The trick to get the rich colors in photos are using the filters. I always use polarizing filters to get the blue sky, also darken the scene in two stops. The polarizing filter has a rotating ring that you can achieve the best results when using 90 degrees from the source of light, But I also use it to shoot toward the light.
Be advised that the polarizing filter does not work good with super wide lenses, also the filters for 14-24 or 16-28 lens are very expensive. Do a research on what to buy first.
